Editorial Standards
How the Franchise Hunt editorial team sources, verifies, and reviews the UK franchise opportunities listed in our directory.
Who reviews the listings
Every listing on Franchise Hunt is reviewed by the Franchise Hunt editorial team. The team is responsible for sourcing new franchise opportunities, verifying the published facts against the brand's official franchise materials, keeping investment figures and outlet counts up to date, and rejecting opportunities that fail our inclusion checks.
How listings are sourced
- The brand's official franchise prospectus or franchise-recruitment website is the primary source for investment levels, training, financing, founded year, and outlet count.
- UK trade publications and recognised franchise directories are used to cross-reference outlet counts and corporate history.
- Franchisor submissions through our List Your Franchise form are reviewed by the editorial team before publication.
- Sector-authority publishers (Statista, gov.uk, ONS, sector bodies) are linked from each listing to support market-level claims.
Inclusion criteria
A franchise must meet all of the following to appear in the live directory:
- Active UK presence (at least one operating UK unit or a UK head office actively recruiting franchisees).
- A genuine franchise model with a defined fee structure, training, and territory or rights of use. Investment products, EIS share offerings, dealer programmes and pure affiliate schemes are excluded.
- Brands that recruit only master franchisees with no individual-unit route in the UK are excluded.
- An identifiable franchisor entity, accessible enquiry route, and verifiable published franchise materials.
Review cadence
- Each listing carries a visible "Last updated" date matching its
dateModifiedschema timestamp. - Listings are re-checked when the franchisor updates their materials, when a UK outlet milestone changes, and on an at-least-annual editorial sweep.
- Brands that become dormant, pause UK recruitment, or fail re-verification are moved to a non-live status and do not appear in the directory.
Aggregate statistics
The category pages publish first-party aggregate statistics (count of live brands, minimum, median and maximum investment, training and financing share, year range) computed directly from the live Franchise Hunt directory. These figures refresh hourly and are sourced as "Franchise Hunt directory" on each page.
Corrections
If you spot an error on any listing, blog, or comparison page (a wrong investment figure, an outlet count that is out of date, a mis-stated training or financing detail), please contact the editorial team via the contact page. We aim to review correction requests within five working days and to amend or remove disputed claims promptly.
Independence and commercial relationships
Inclusion in the Franchise Hunt directory is editorial. Brands cannot pay to be listed and cannot pay to alter the published facts on their listing. Featured brands and Franchise of the Month placements, where commercial, are labelled. Enquiry forms route prospective franchisees directly to the franchisor.
